What did people use before Kim K and her MUA made the Banana Powder technique a thing? 🤔

I remember just layering on any translucent powder over Mac's Studio Finish Concealer under the eye. Of course, I have since seen the light. So good bye cakey, dry, flashback-prone under-eye - hello bright mellow-yellow highlight

Thank you Kim!

What is in my custom blend Banana Powder

One a of my major skincare concern is dryness and dark circles in my eye contour area. Mine is hereditary, and as such my skin prep and makeup routine would include products that counteract this issue.

For this purpose I love a good yellow tone powder such as the Ben Nye Banana Powder in my makeup arsenal (Ben Nye was actually the first I purchased ), there are a few others I have tried and enjoyed.

I use these powders for specifically for setting the highlighted areas on my face, including my under-eye area. With some of the favourites in my collection I have created a custom mix to achieve my perfect shade of yellow-tone powder that complements the yellowish-golden undertones in my skin.

This isn't a review of these powders, (as a matter of fact there are some pretty detailed reviews online some of which are linked below) - this post will merely touch on the products i have used in creating what i call my custom blend banana powder.

L-R Revolution Luxury Banana Powder, Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder, Ben Nye Camel Luxury Powder, Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup Powder

The arsenal of yellow/golden toned soft milled powders blended together for my custom under-eye setting powder.

Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup PowderMade popular by international Youtube sensation Jackie Aina, this is defiantly in my top 3 and a big contender overall in the banana powder category.

I like this for how it melts in easily and brings out the glow in my highlighted areas. For a while a while i ditched my Ben Nye in favour of the Buttercup. And still use this on its own when i'm looking for a super lit highlight.

I dab in a little of this - no more than a cap full - to bring in the warmth to the blend. This golden toned creamier poweder complements the yellow toned powders quite well and allows my under-eye to blend even more seamlessly into my complexion.

What can I say, it's the none but the renowned O.G. herself. I like how fine and smoothing this feels as a finishing powder over any base completion product.

Albeit it's cult status, by itself i find it a little drying and sometimes pronounces the lines in my eye area.

Revolution Luxury Banana Powder

Good dupe for the Ben Nye Banana Powder. Slightly paler and dryer in texture but some claim this wears better throughout the day in comparison to the Ben Nye counterpart. I like this for the price and the finish on the skin. It also saves me from using too much of Ben Nye Banana powder, helping it last longer.

A mixture of the the above powders produces what i consider my perfect shade, which has become my must have in my make routine.

What are your favourite products for setting highlighted areas?
